Our Journey towards Justice and Equality

Our Story

In the year 1992, SAHAYOG was started by three activists who were committed to work for the rights of marginalized communities: Jashodhara Dasgupta, Dr. Abhijit Das and Satish Kr. Singh in Almora, Uttarakhand. For close to a decade, SAHAYOG worked with communities on a variety of issues such as Maternal health, community development, and participation of women in civic bodies. In the year 2000, SAHAYOG moved to Lucknow and started working with community based organizations in over 20 districts of Uttar Pradesh. SAHAYOG is currently working closely in partnership with a group of organizations to provide technical support, capacity building and knowledge-sharing on gender, women’s health and rights, working with adolescent girls on their Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and leadership, as well as working with men on gender justice and ending violence against women.
