SAHAYOG, a non-profit voluntary organization, was started with the core belief that people who are socially marginalized have the right to participate in the decisions that impact their lives.
SAHAYOG works towards the larger goal of Gender Justice by amplifying the voices of women and girls and building allyship in men and boys. Our work with young women and girls centers around inculcating their innate leadership, building awareness of their own bodies, their surroundings, their rights and entitlements, and fostering an enabling environment for them to emerge as change makers in their own lives.
In 2002 SAHAYOG pioneered involving men as allies – Samaanta ke Sathi (gender champions) – to curb violence against women, and was one of the first organizations in the country to do so. When men change, both home and society change. SAHAYOG hosted the Men’s Action for Stopping Violence Against Women (MASVAW) network from 2003 until 2011, which served as a model for other similar networks to work with men and boys towards gender justice.
